8 Ted Talks to change your life in 20 minutes or less:

Introduction

We all have a lot of things to do and life is too short. But, there are also some things that we could do to make our lives better. I am going to share with you 8 TED Talks that will change the way you think about yourself and the world around you in just 20 minutes or less!

Inside the mind of master procrastinator

Procrastination is the act of putting something off until later. It’s a common problem, but it doesn’t have to be your problem.

In this Ted Talk by psychologist Roy Baumeister and his colleagues at Florida State University, you’ll find out what causes procrastination in the first place and how it can be overcome. And then there’s no excuse for not doing something!

Your body language may sheep who you are

Your body language may be the most important communication tool you have. It’s how you communicate without words, and it can make or break a meeting.

Your body language can be positive or negative:

  • Positive – when you smile, hold your head high and look people in the eye; when someone compliments you on something good (even if it was your own idea); when someone asks where they should sit at an event; etc., etc., etc..
  • Negative – crossing arms over chest; turning away from people who say something kind to you; not smiling enough/not making eye contact with others around you…

How to speak so that people want to listen

  • Know your audience. Before you begin, it’s important to know who you’re speaking to and what they want out of the information you’re providing. This will help ensure that your talk is relevant and useful for them, rather than just another boring speech on a subject (which can get boring if people aren’t interested).
  • Be authentic. Authenticity is key when speaking so that people want to listen—and they’ll be more likely to do so if they feel like they know and trust you as an authentic person who speaks from her or his heart rather than from a script or notes taken from somewhere else.*
  • Be passionate about what matters most in life: relationships between people; causes worth fighting for; goals worth achieving together; values shared across cultures; etc., etc., etc…

What makes a good life lessons from the longest study on happiness

Happiness is a choice. It is not the same as pleasure, success and meaning. Happiness is not wealth, health or even time on your hands to do whatever you want with it.

Happiness can be hard to measure but one thing that seems to work well in measuring how happy we are are things like life satisfaction and happiness surveys (like this one). Of course there’s always going to be someone who says they are happier than others but who cares? They might be wrong!

The puzzle of motivation

As you might have guessed, motivation is a puzzle. There are three types: intrinsic, extrinsic, and social motivation. Intrinsic motivation comes from within yourself—you find something interesting or important to do because it’s what you want to do. Extrinsic motivation comes from outside sources—if someone pays you more money for doing something (or if your boss tells you what to do), that’s an example of extrinsic motivation. Social pressure is another form of extrinsic motivation; when we feel like other people are watching us or judging our performance in some way (and therefore will hold us accountable), we tend to be more motivated than when no one cares about what we’re doing at all!

The third type—social/group oriented—is perhaps the most nebulous category of all three types mentioned above, but still important nonetheless because without understanding these factors we’ll never be able to understand how much impact they can have on our own lives as individuals or organizations as well!

10 ways to have a better conversation

  • Be interested in the other person.
  • Ask questions.
  • Be a good listener and really listen to what the other person has to say.
  • Share stories from your own life that show how much you care about them and make them feel important (and validate their feelings).
  • Be genuine; don’t try too hard, just be yourself! This will help build trust with others, which makes it easier for them to open up more easily too!

Great the power of passion and preserverance

Great leaders are those who have a passion for the work they do, and they can’t ever seem to get enough of it. They’re passionate about leading others and making their team successful.

Leading by example is another way to show your employees what it means to be a great leader: You set an example for them by practicing what you preach in all aspects of your life. If you want your team members to follow suit, then make sure that everything you do is consistent with this philosophy—even if it means taking time out of your day every once in awhile just so everyone knows where each other stands as far as priorities go!

How great leader inspire action

A great leader inspires action. A leader is someone who has influence over others and is able to make things happen.

If you want to be a great leader, you’ll need to inspire your team or organization in some way—and the best way to do that is by being an example of what’s possible for them. You can’t just tell them what needs doing; you have to show them how it can be done!

Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed these TED Talks. I’m sure they will inspire you to make more of your life, whether that be by changing how you spend your time, what decisions you make and why or just in general. There are so many different ways to live an amazing life!
